Custom ceramic components for cooking, hearth, industrial heating, and specialty OEM applications

Inside a commercial griddle, fireplace, paint-curing oven, and an electric kiln, a ceramic part performs different jobs

One radiates heat across a surface.

One holds a flame in place.

One survives a thousand cycles from cold to red and back.

One insulates a connection that must not arc.

We make those parts. Some customers arrive with the ceramic component already specified; others bring a function or application problem that Apogee helps develop into a manufacturable ceramic requirement. We press and fire the component in Ontario, Canada. The OEM or system owner remains responsible for the complete system, certification, installation, and final performance.

Cooking and foodservice equipment

Ceramic infrared plaque radiating at temperature within a metal burner frame.

In cooking equipment, a ceramic component may need to radiate heat. It may also work through repeated cycles or support a formed thermal function.

  • Barbecues and gas ranges
  • Broilers and convection ovens
  • Deep fryers and gas ovens
  • Griddles and sear cookers
  • Pizza ovens and gyro cookers

Porosity, surface geometry, mounting, thermal cycling, loading, and support shape the ceramic requirement in cooking and foodservice equipment.

For infrared-emitter and burner-component requirements, see Ceramic Plaques. For formed thermal components and BBQ inserts, see Custom Refractory.

Hearth and fireplace equipment

Hearth and fireplace equipment may use ceramic infrared emitters, burner blocks, and other formed ceramic shapes.

  • Gas fireplace and flame-effect burner assemblies
  • Ceramic infrared emitters
  • Burner blocks and formed ceramic shapes

Direct flame, thermal cycling, mounting, and visible placement shape the ceramic requirement in hearth and fireplace equipment.

For infrared-emitter and burner-component requirements, see Ceramic Plaques. For formed ceramic shapes and burner blocks, see Custom Refractory.

Industrial heating and thermal processing

Industrial heating and thermal-processing equipment may use several kinds of ceramic components. These include infrared emitters, formed high-temperature ceramic components, and other custom technical ceramic components.

  • Curing
  • Drying
  • Thawing
  • Process heating
  • Infrared heating and other thermal-processing equipment

Temperature, load, atmosphere, and geometry can change the ceramic requirement even between similar heating machines. Components may radiate heat, insulate electrically, support a load, resist wear, or remain stable through thermal cycling and process atmospheres.

For infrared-emitter requirements, see Ceramic Plaques. For other custom ceramic components, see Technical Ceramics. For formed high-temperature components, see Custom Refractory.

Specialty OEM and custom industrial applications

Custom technical ceramic components made to customer requirements.

Some components begin with a specialized function. A familiar market label may not apply. Difficult, creative, and non-standard work is considered when the requirement suits our materials and manufacturing processes.

Examples include:

  • Low-tension electrical insulators
  • Precious-metals-processing components
  • Unusual formed thermal components
  • Components developed around a specialized function

“Apogee was able to provide us with the product we needed when seemingly nobody else could. Their prices are very reasonable, and I see no reason to buy from anyone else.”
