Foundry
Foam Filters
Foam filters offer excellent filtration efficiency, flow modification and thermal shock resistance. They were the first effective filtration solution for steel and have been the industry standard for many years. Their shortcomings include having irregular flow rates and capacities, being difficult to prime, and remaining fairly friable (small pieces are prone to break away). Despite these shortcomings, they have been used very successfully by multiple foundries for many years.
Matrix Filters
Our matrix filters provide a solution that offers the best aspects of foam filters as well as the best aspects of cellular filters (with none of their respective shortcomings.) This product is most suitable for applications that need:
- An excellent degree of filtration
- An excellent degree of flow modification
- A high and consistent flow rate
- Lower priming temperatures
Pressed Filters
Our pressed filters can be used in less-demanding applications that require a good level of filtration efficiency. They can also be used in situations where foam filters have not primed sufficiently, or have given inconsistent flow rates and capacities.
Silica Mesh Filters
High silica fiberglass mesh filters are weaved with high silica fiberglass yarn and coated with a phenolic resin, a smokeless carbonized treatment or high temperature ceramic. They are effective at removing slag, refractory particles and non-metallic inclusions from molten metals.
